Confidential Auto Wrecking Facility
Client: Confidential
Year: 2024 - 2025
Location: Columbia Slough, Oregon
Features:
Groundwater investigation to assess potential contaminant discharge
Upland stormwater source control evaluation
Surface soil contamination removal and slope reconfiguration
Regulatory permitting and compliance oversight
Installation of security fencing and replanting of restored slope
Project Summary
Central Engineering Services (CES) was retained to coordinate site investigation and cleanup actions under regulatory oversight to obtain a No Further Action Letter and settle liabilities associated with sediment contamination adjacent to the site. The project focused on evaluating groundwater impacts, addressing potential contaminant discharge, and implementing site remediation measures to restore environmental integrity while ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations.
Scope of Work: CES will be conducting a sitewide groundwater investigation to evaluate potential impacts and contaminant discharge into the Columbia Slough. The project will include upland stormwater source control evaluations, permitting, localized contaminated soil removal, slope stabilization, and ecological restoration.
Key Activities:
Conduct extensive groundwater sampling and analysis to determine contaminant levels and migration pathways
Evaluate and implemented stormwater source control measures to prevent further contamination
Excavate impacted soil and debris from the slope area, improving structural stability and environmental safety
Coordinate all permitting activities, including obtaining approvals for bank restoration and site remediation
Provide ongoing consultation and reporting to ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements
Results: CES’s expertise and proactive approach will facilitate a comprehensive environmental solution for the auto-wrecking facility. Their longstanding relationships with regulatory agencies and strategic planning will result in positive project outcomes, ensuring regulatory compliance and environmental protection. CES’s efforts will lead to a stabilized slope, improved site conditions, and progress toward obtaining a No Further Action Letter.
